The University of Northern Philippines holds the distinction
of being a Level IV University, the highest level
for State Colleges and Universities in the country,
duly accredited and certified by the Commission of
Higher Education (CHED).
It has collaborated with the University
of Hawaii Kapiolani Community College for its exchange
program in nursing. In Medicine, affiliate hospitals
include Candon General Hospital, Salcedo District
Hospital, Sta. Lucia District Hospital, Southern Ilocos
Sur District Hospital, Sto. Nino Hospital, Cagayan
Valley Medical Center, Candon City Hospital, Central
Ilocos Sur District Hospital and the Ilocos Region
Training Medical Center.
Furthermore, UNP is the only State
University in Region I and Cordillera that has produced
a University Professor who is one among those who
obtained an excellent rating nationwide. Additionally,
UNP is the only State University outside Metro Manila
that participated in World Bank funded researches,
and the only university in Region I accorded by USAID
with two research grants in a span of three years.

The Cagayan State University, locally known as CSU,
is the second largest state institution of higher
learning in the Cagayan Valley Region, in terms of

In July 1976, as a response to the recognition of
shortage of doctors serving rural communities and
lack of specialists in urban centers of Mindanao,
the Davao Medical School Foundation (DMSF) was established.
Being the first college to be set up in Mindanao,

The University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial
Medical Center is a world-renowned training ground
for the medical, nursing and physical therapy professions.
To maintain academic excellence,
the Medical Center sought voluntary accreditation
in all its program offerings with PAASCU. The College
of Medicine is Level 2 accredited, the College of
Nursing has been recertified Level 3 and the College
of Physical Therapy was granted Level 1 accreditation
all in 2004. The UERM Memorial Medical Center is presently
classified as one of the 24 deregulated schools in
the country and is set to pursue an “autonomous”
status in the near future.

grown from a simple Trade School into technical, then

Cebu Doctors' University is a medical university located in Mandaue City, Cebu, Philippines. Founded in 1975 and as of 2005, it has grown to outwit other schools in the number of students who passed the board exams. The University of the Visayas was founded by the
late Don Vicente A. Gullas in 1919 as the Visayan
Institute (V.I.) in Cebu City. Undergoing many years
of redevelopment and surviving a post war period,
The University of the Visayas today boasts an
eight-campus, province-wide delivery of higher education
and lower level laboratory schools.
The Gullas Medical Center is located at Banilad, Mandaue
City. It houses the Vicente Gullas Memorial Hospital,

The Southwestern University
was founded as Southwestern Colleges in the summer
of 1946 when the country was still reeling from the
destruction of the Second World War.
